24 hour light up the lake

Join us for our “Light up the Lake 24-hour Charity Event” to raise awareness and money for suicide prevention, mental health, and father’s rights. The event includes a 24 hour wheelbarrow lake challenge, live music, BBQ, yoga, children's activities, face painting, and inspirational talks. The event takes place on October 26th & 27th at the Wagga Wagga Boat Club, with a memory wall, lake walk, and glow-in-the-dark activities also planned. Proceeds from the event held at the Wagga Wagga Boat Club will be donated to TIACS and Parents Beyond Breakup. TIACS is a free phone and text counselling service offering mental health support to Australia’s blue collar community. For more info Please visit https://parentsbeyondbreakup.com/ Last year CharryBarra raised an amazing $7055 for the Black Dog Institute doing their October wheelbarrow challenge around the lake. The money raised by their wheelbarrow challenge this year will be confirmed soon. The proposed itinerary for the day are as follows: Wheel Barrow Challenge: October 26th from 11am Mitch from CharryBarra has set himself a new challenge this year in honor of Shane Cox a Wagga local man who sadly lost his battle with life a year ago. Mitch has planned a 24 hour wheel barrow challenge around the lake with the final lap returning at 11am Sunday October 27th. BBQ: Saturday 11am-8pm. Sausage sandwiches and steak sandwiches will be available for purchase. Yoga By The Lake: Jacqui from the Empowered Empress is kindly hosting a gently flow yoga class on Saturday from 11.30am-12.30pm (The park area next to the lake) Feel free to join in or sit and enjoy the relaxing free flow of gentle healing movement. Children’s Mindfulness Activities: From Saturday 11am Mindfulness coloring, Mindfulness scavenger hunt, Playdough, Sensory pocket hug kit. Face Painting: We will have face painting throughout Saturday. "Sunshine Face Painting by Sare" have kindly donated a timeslot of 12pm-2pm. It Ain’t Weak to Speak: 3pm: Keynote speaker Pete Nicholls from “Parents Beyond Breakup” gives his inspirational story and provides information on their mums and dads in distress support groups. We will have an open mic throughout the day for anyone who wants to share their own journey and story. Karaoke: Come and sing your heart out in our Karaoke competition from 8pm to 10pm Live music: Don Hillam & guests throughout the day Butterfly Memory Wall: If you have a loved one that lost their battle with life, bring along a photo of them to add to our butterfly memory wall. Alternatively, we will have some card for you to write a special message and make them a part of the day. Bring your Boat: Add some orange to your boat in support of the event and if walking the lake isn’t your thing, cut a few laps of the lake on the water! Glow in the Dark: Help light up the lake and glow in the dark! Glow bracelets and necklaces available for a gold coin donation. Lake Walk and Talk: Gather some friends and take a leisurely walk and talk around the lake. The Wagga Wagga Boat Club provides a courtesy bus and will close at 12am Oct 26th and reopen at 8am Oct 27th.
