Community engagement volunteer

Community engagement in the NSW SES can take many forms. Some community engagement roles include:

• Understanding the local flood, storm and tsunami risks.
• Facilitating unit members to become involved in proactive events in your unit area.
• Developing displays and demonstrations for events.
• Developing local resources
• Working with the community to identify local strengths that can work towards building resilience.
• Networking with local stakeholders and community, understanding how your community connects, meets and shares information.
• Preparing and delivering talks and presentations.
• Talking with local schools and other community groups.
• Engaging with local people (residents, business owners, land owners) about their flood and storm risk. 
• Training and assessing community engagement within your zone or in other zones of the NSW SES.
• Identifying local issues, target groups and risk areas to develop relevant engagement strategies to build local capabilities.
• Measuring and evaluating the community engagement work you do.
