Communities in the Hunter are a step closer to recovery, with the final flood warning being lifted at Wingham this morning.
Around 100 volunteers from the NSW SES, NSW Rural Fire Service and Marine Rescue NSW will be undertaking around 950 damage assessments today at Maitland, Port Stephens and Gosford.
NSW SES incident Controller, Superintendent Ben Lavendar said the priority for crews today was completing the impact assessments and outstanding tasks.
“Power is progressively being restored, and our teams have been making solid progress on addressing all incidents impacting the community,” he said.
“Our focus today is working through the important impact assessments which will allow residents to access further support as they recover from these storms.”
Superintendent Lavendar said the NSW SES would again be attending community hubs to support impacted residents.
NSW SES, NSW Reconstruction Authority, welfare services and local volunteers are manning Community Hubs in Raymond Terrace and Woodberry to provide support to people impacted by the storms. Food and provisions are available, as well advice, support and information and charging stations for personal devices.
At Woodberry, the Salvation Army will be providing lunch from 12pm to 2pm and Dinner from 5pm to 7pm.
Any residents requiring assistance from the NSW SES should call 132 500.
